The Museum’s Thirty-Year History

On September 8, 2020 the Museum of the Belarusian Book-Printing celebrated its 30th anniversary. A lot of interesting meetings, events and discoveries bringing bright emotions and memories had happened in the Museum along the way.

September 28, 2000. Guests of the event, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Museum’s opening. In the front and center of the photo there is the first Head of the Museum Halina Ladzisava.


Year 2002. The Museum was awarded as the best museum in the professional skill competition by Viciebsk Regional Executive Committee.


June 10, 2009. Polack native Andrej Makahon presenting the Museum with an essential Polack edition – the «Roman Missal» found on a public sale.


September 9, 2010. The Museum of Belarusian Book-Printing was celebrating its 20th birthday with a great scientific event – Skaryna Conference. Over 20 scientists from across the country attended the event to congratulate the Museum and to share results of their research. On the photo there is Aliena Šumovič, the Head of the Museum, welcoming the guests of the conference.


May 25, 2012. On the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of Polack the Museum hosted a one-day and one-book exhibition. To everyone’s delight on display there was the «Book of Job», an authentic edition of 1517 printed by Francysk Skaryna in Prague, from the collection of the National Library of Belarus.


May 18, 2013. Museum Night at the Museum of Belarusian Book-Printing. Since 2009 the Museum has taken part in the international cultural event «Museum Night». Since then hundreds of people have seized the opportunity to visit the Museum in mystical night atmosphere.


September, 2016. Belarusian Written Language Day in Rahačoŭ. Many years the Museum of Belarusian Book-Printing has been participating in the festive events. That year the Museum presented the exhibition of the best Belarusian books – winners of the 55th «Book Art» contest.


Summer 2017. The Museum was preparing for the «500 Years of Belarusian Book-Printing» festivities.


September 8, 2018. The Museum is 28.


December 7, 2018. On the occasion of the photo albums exhibition from the collection of PNHCMR the Museum invited a famous journalist, photographer and publisher Siarhej Plytkievič to meet the local community.


September 7, 2019. The Head of the Museum Slavina Gavrilova presented a lately acquired museum exhibit – manuscript «The Church History about the Time of Troubles in Russia» of 1887, rewritten by Polack Old Believers.


September 8. 2020. The Museum of Belarusian Book-Printing celebrated its 30th anniversary among colleges and friends.
